Caraquet, N.B. - The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation Inc. (NBMEF) is proud to present Acadian Roots: Support That Stays, a signature fundraising event celebrating Acadian culture while investing in the future of healthcare in New Brunswick.

Taking place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Carrefour de la mer in Caraquet, this unique, bilingual evening will bring together laughter, culture, and community in support of scholarships for New Brunswick medical students.

Headlining the event are renowned New Brunswick comedians Luc LeBlanc and Marshall Button, who will deliver an unforgettable night of entertainment rooted in the province’s rich Acadian heritage.

“A night like Acadian Roots reflects the strength of our communities and the importance of investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals,” said Alyssa Long, Executive Director of the NBMEF. “This event is about increasing access to healthcare and raising awareness of a scholarship program that has helped secure future physicians for communities across the province, including Northern New Brunswick.”

The evening will feature:

  • Live comedy performances by Luc LeBlanc and Marshall Button

  • A curated charitable auction showcasing New Brunswick experiences

  • Special guest speakers and presentations

  • A reception celebrating Acadian culture and community

Proceeds from the event will directly support NBMEF’s return-to-service scholarship program, which provides tuition relief to medical and allied health professional students in the province. Through this program, students receive financial support in exchange for a commitment to practice in New Brunswick.

In 2025 alone, NBMEF awarded $1.4 million in scholarships to 166 students from 43 communities, strengthening the pipeline of future healthcare providers. Just under 40% of students supported today are enrolled in French-language programs.

Acadian Roots is designed to be an immersive and distinctly New Brunswick experience celebrating the province’s Acadian identity while supporting a vital cause.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities, including table sponsorships, are now available. All ticket and table purchases are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
